CSV to Markdown table converter
Spreadsheet data is the usual source for a table in a book or document. Copying it by hand into pipes and dashes is slow and error-prone.
Paste your CSV or choose a file, pick the separator, and the tool writes a Markdown table with the first row as the header. Quoted cells are handled, so a comma inside "Smith, John" does not split the cell, and doubled quotes become one quote. Pipe characters are escaped and line breaks inside a cell become <br>.
Large tables are fine for the converter but hard to read in a book, so consider splitting very wide data. After converting, you can tidy the result with the table formatter. The file is read in your browser and not uploaded.
How to use it
- Paste the CSV or choose a file.
- Pick the separator.
- Copy the table into your Markdown.
Worked example
The quoted comma stays inside its cell.
