Markdown to Word converter

Word documents are still the common format for editors, reviewers and publishers who need to comment on a manuscript. This tool turns one Markdown file into an editable .docx document.

The converter uses the default Word template and reads the MarkdownBooks manuscript rules. Headings become Word heading styles, lists stay lists, tables become Word tables, and code blocks use a monospace style. A table of contents is included.

The upload is deleted when the conversion finishes, whether it succeeds or fails. The Word document remains available for 24 hours. Use Create Book if you need to choose a different Word template or combine several files.

One .md file, up to 10 MB. Zip files and local image files are not accepted here; use Create Book for those.

The upload is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes. The generated file is kept for 24 hours.

How to use it

  1. Choose one Markdown (.md) file, up to 10 MB.
  2. Start the conversion and wait for the job to finish.
  3. Download the Word document and open it in your editor.

Worked example

Upload a Markdown chapter and receive an editable .docx file with the default Word styles.
