Checker

Markdown link checker for local links and images

Broken links and missing images are the most common reason a converted book has gaps. They are easy to miss in a long manuscript.

Paste your Markdown, then choose your project folder or paste a list of file paths. The tool reads only the file names, not their contents, and checks every image and local link against that list. It compares paths exactly, including capital letters, because the print server is case sensitive even if your computer is not.

Heading links such as #setup are checked against the headings in the text, and remote addresses are not fetched. Fix each reported line, then run the manuscript checker for the structural rules.

How to use it

  1. Paste the Markdown.
  2. Choose the project folder, or paste the file list.
  3. Fix each reported line.

Worked example

Reports Pic.png as missing because the file is pic.png.

Questions

Are the files uploaded?
No. Only their names are read, in your browser.
Why is capitalisation checked?
Linux servers treat Pic.png and pic.png as different files.
Are web links checked?
No. Remote addresses are not fetched.
What about links to headings?
They are checked against the headings in the pasted text.

Files you choose here are processed in your browser and are not uploaded.
